Hats Off To Hank Reviews "HATS
OFF TO HANK , a rather misleading title which
suggests a tribute
album to Hank Williams, is a collection of modest,
life-observing, quirky self - penned songs played
and sung in a loose, informal way with a small
ensemble. Musically, it's a fairly eclectic mix
of rock, pop,
folk-tinged pop and country which seems approriate
for someone who has had success in all of these
fields. ...Standout cuts include "Ain't Nobody", a cut with a lowdown feel about the claustrophobia of apartment life, "I Love The South", a lovely, delicate dedication to the Southland, the noisy, rambunctious, slightly
shambolic but highly biograohical "Playin' Music" .."me,, I got on the radio, makin' more money than I could ever spend," and the equally wild road song, "Texas Wildflower", which namechecks many of Cason's musical friends and heroes" College Performance/Guest Lecturer Reviews "Buzz Cason is one of the most fascinating and interesting individuals out of
Nashville.....he has lived "The Rock and Roll Dream," and can share the history and personalities that have shaped rock music and
contemporary culture since the late 1950's. Buzz
has a genuine understanding having performed with
many of the great rock artists over the years. His
writing and producing for major rock acts makes him
a rare person who can tell the up's and down's of
rock and popular music. Buzz combines his history
and knowledge with a sincere Christian witness for
today's college students. Buzz's compassion for people
and the Christian gospel makes for an eclectic blend
of how and why rock music has had such an impact
on America's youth for the past forty plus years." “I would like to take this opportunity to spread the word of Buzz Cason and his
wonderful book “Living the Rock ‘n Roll Dream”. I
use Buzz Cason as an example of a true renaissance
man in my classes at MTSU every semester because
Buzz really has excelled in so many areas. As a songwriter,
he has had songs recorded by the Beatles, U2, Gloria
Estefan, Pearl Jam and Robert Knight. As a publisher
he has signed songs like “Honey” and “Little Green
Apples”. He traveled all over the world as an entertainer
with Brenda Lee in the early years. He has been the
voice of “Alvin” on “Chipmunk” records. He is a recording
artist, studio owner, a record producer and if that’s
not all, a racecar driver. Buzz came to MTSU and
spoke to students and they were thoroughly entertained
and informed. Buzz tells stories that give quality
insight into the recording industry. Above all, Buzz
is a really nice person.” “Buzz Cason spoke (and performed) at my SURVEY OF
MUSIC BUSINESS class at Trevecca Nazarene University.
He was electric as he presented various aspects
of his highly successful career: his personal story,
entrepreneurship, performing and songwriting skills,
down-to-earth honesty and sense of humor. The students
were enthralled. The hour sped by and was easily
one of the most meaningful classes of the year.” |
